The Juvenile Justice Information Center provides comprehensive information and statistics on a range of California's juvenile justice issues. This site is designed to improve the public's understanding of the juvenile justice system and to promote policy reform.

Welcome

California has one of the highest rates of juvenile incarceration in the country. Despite actual declines in juvenile crime, tougher crime legislation continues to set the tone for juvenile corrections. CJCJ's expanded Juvenile Justice Information Center provides county-specific data on how detention rates are disproportionate for youth of color. Our new site also includes best practices for reforming juvenile justice systems, and highlights model reform efforts in jurisdictions across the country.

Special thanks to the Haigh-Scatena Foundation, the California Wellness Foundation and the Annie E. Casey Foundation for providing funding for this project.
