Out of Sight, Out of Mind: The Plight of Adolescent Girls in The San Francisco Juvenile Justice System

Women and girls are the fastest growing segment of the prison and jail population, but are all but invisible in terms of programs and statistics.  Teenage girls are being arrested in San Francisco at higher rates than ever before -- and for increasingly serious offenses. 

This report presents recommendations about serving the unique needs of girls in the San Francisco Juvenile Probation system.
