Cameo House Program Receives Certificate of Honor from the Board of Supervisors

Thank you to Supervisor Jackie Fielder for presenting our Cameo House program with a Certificate of Honor in recognition of our work supporting stability, family unity, and healing for San Francisco justice-involved women and children. On December 16th, our Cameo House program director Charity Harris accepted the official Commendation at the Board of Supervisor’s last meeting of the year at City Hall.

This recognition was made during the week of Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, a meaningful time for our community to reflect onthe importance of housing, dignity, and safety. It also came the day after an unexpected fire from an explosion at a gas station near Cameo House. Our team jumped into action, securing safe places for our families to stay while we waited for our building to be cleared. It was a reminder of how critical Cameo House is for the women and children who live there: it is their home and plays a vital public-safety and public-health role in our San Francisco community.

As an essential alternative-sentencing and transitional housing program for justice-involved mothers,Cameo House allows women to remain in the community, rebuild their lives, and stay connected to their children.During uncertain times, our beloved program continues to be a light of hope and safety. Thank you also to the Women’s Housing Coalition, of which Cameo House is a founding member for showing up with us! It takes a village to break intergenerational harm and build new futures. We are proud to be a part of San Francisco’s.
