CJCJ was proud to support the All Youth Are Sacred (AYAS) fellowship with its second cohort last week in Sacramento. Youth fellows came from across the state to learn about the importance of policy and organizing. They also got a chance to start planning future cohort events and visit the Capitol for their first legislative visit. It was an important two days of intergenerational power and relationship building. Thank you to AYAS and CAYCJ for continuing this important fellowship and investing in our next generation. May they build futures with better outcomes and opportunities than they have been given.
All Youth Are Sacred is a narrative power-building initiative. Narrative power-building empowers communities to tell their stories and to envision their communities in a liberatory future. Shaping these narratives is crucial for shaping norms and informing youth-based policies.
AYAS aims to build a statewide narrative infrastructure, anchored in the Bay, that connects people, platforms, and tools to define what is possible and shape “belonging.” AYAS builds the leadership of narrative organizers to lead the transformation of their communities.
With youth arrest and incarceration rates the lowest they’ve ever been in 50 years. There is a ripe opportunity to reimagine youth justice, with youth at the forefront. Stay tuned for more information about this fellowship, and follow AYAS to learn about future events. You can also head over to our Instagram page to see more photos of this powerful gathering.
