In 1992 the Supportive Living Program was established by the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ) as an altemative to traditional clinical approaches to substance abuse treatment for parolees. Funded by the California Department of Corrections and contracted through the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the program was a pioneering effort to apply social model recovery principles to high risk parolees.”
