SB 284 (Beall), the Keep Youth Close to Home Act, encourages counties to keep youth nearer to family and community by creating a financial disincentive for sending young people to the DJJ facilities. This bill will be an important step in ensuring that young people are kept out of California’s remote and dangerous state institutions.

The bill passed in the California Assembly on Tuesday, September 3rd and now the Governor needs to hear from you! He has to sign the bill before October 13th and every call counts.
