The Homeless Pretrial Release Project: An Innovative Pretrial Release Option

"An initial study comparing HRP graduates from the program's first year with a representative comparison group showed that HRP participants were half as likely to be rearrested. HRP's work demonstrates that when the individualized needs of homeless offenders are met - needs such as housing, benefits assistance, and mental health and substance abuse treatment - participants are better equipped to avoid future criminal behavior."
